Learn German in Freiburg, Southwest Germany

City viewOur school was founded as LGS Sprachkurse in 1972 and in the beginning of the eighties began to specialise in teaching German to foreign students. The majority of our teachers have been trained in house. In all these years the school has been constantly working on improving our quality and on developing our services and facilities in every aspect.

The schools main interest has always been to offer our clients high quality language teaching and additional services which make their stay both effective and enjoyable.

Location

The school is located in the university town of Freiburg, undoubtedly one of Germany' s most attractive cities. Freiburg is small enough to allow you to feel "at home" from your first day here, yet at the same time big enough to be international, exciting and vibrant.

Freiburg has a population of around 200.000, the student population makes 30.000. Freiburg a very lively city with lots of bars, restaurants and discos.

The old city centre still bears witness to a history that goes back to 1120. The location at the foot of the Black Forest with France and Switzerland nearby makes Freiburg an ideal starting point for some memorable excursions. Freiburg has always had the reputation of being the ecological capital of Germany. Nowadays, it is called the "Solar City". The use of the sun as resource of alternative energy is much more popular in Freiburg than in any other region of Germany.

Bikes FreiburgGetting Around

The standard of public transport is high and serves as an international model. Due to the fact that Freiburg's inner region has few upgrades, it is ideal for bike riding. Everyone has their own bike(s).

Sports

Freiburg offers a wide range of sports facilities like tennis, badminton, squash, golf, swimming, riding, inline-skating, climbing, canoeing, hiking, cycling, paragliding, gymnasiums, ice-skating etc.
Hikers and cyclists will find a huge net of well-marked hiking and cycle trails in the beautiful surroundings of Freiburg.

For mountainbikers there are numerous challenging routes to the mountainous east of Freiburg.

In winter you can go skiing in the nearby Black-Forest (30 to 45 minutes by bus) and do both downhill and cross-country skiing. If you prefer higher mountains you can go on a trip to the Alps at the weekend and enjoy breathtaking views and slopes (2 hours by bus).

A further point in its favour is the mild climate: Freiburg is the warmest and sunniest city in Germany.
